Trayvon Martin – George Zimmerman jury verdict

Trayvon Martin – George Zimmerman jury verdict

With a heavy heart I speak on the injustice of the death of Trayvon Martin. I believe the death of Trayvon Martin and the death of my brother Keith Warren are connected by their similarities. Although the prosecution did not put on the best case in front of the jury, you have to keep in mind the prosecution came in with a handicap. A handicap caused by the action or lack thereof of the Sanford, FL police department. From the moment the deadly shot was fired until the travesty of justice of the verdict last night, Trayvon Martin was denied the right of due process. The Sanford police department treated the death of Trayvon Martin not as a homicide on February 26, 2012. This is not speculation this is fact. From the basic steps of collection evidence to a simply canvas of the neighborhood to the handling of the body, these simple steps fell short of a “proper investigation of a homicide”. The same rings true in the death of Keith Warren. The common denominator is local law enforcement and the mindset that goes into the investigation of a crime scene. I cannot turn back the hands of time and change the outcome for Keith or Trayvon, however It is my mission that JUSTICE and ACCOUTABILTIY is a right that will be afforded to all no matter the race, gender, or nationality moving forward. – Sherri Warren
