Montgomery County MD Justice System vs Science

There’s a kind of fight you can never walk away from—the kind that wraps itself around your life, year after year. For so long, I felt like I was the only one standing in the ring, throwing punches into the dark, trying to be heard, trying to be believed.

That changed last year, when I met Mr. Steve Hollman and his incredible team. From the beginning, Mr. Hollman asked just one thing of me: “Sit on your hands. Don’t reach out to Montgomery County. Let us do our research and our due diligence.” I respected that request—even though it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. Trusting someone else to fight the battle you’ve carried for nearly four decades isn’t easy.

But in January, Mr. Hollman called me after speaking with the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office. I could hear the disbelief in his voice. He apologized—not for anything he had done, but for the fact that what he learned from that conversation stunned him. He said he couldn’t imagine what my family has endured for the past 37 years.

Attached is a letter Mr. Hollman sent to the State’s Attorney’s Office just yesterday. It speaks for itself. But I just want to say this: For the first time in a very long time, I don’t feel like I’m in this fight alone.
