OPEN LETTER TO MONTGOMERY COUNTY MARYLAND POLICE DEPARTMENT AND STATE GOVERNMENT

I have attached the transcript from Mr. Doug Gansler, who at the time of this interview was the Montgomery County Maryland States Attorney with Del Walters (ABC-7). In the document you will see the quote from Mr. Gansler “There are very strong arguments, having looked at everything in this case, that Keith Warren died of suicide. But there are equally strong arguments to suggest that he did not die of suicide, that he was killed or died accidentally and then was put on this tree afterwards.” I’m bringing this to your attention because I would like for you to consider this information in making your decision concerning the manner of death. If you had the State Attorney for the county stating that there are legitimate questions with Detective Beasley’s conclusion of suicide, it confuses me as to why my family has had so much push back from the Montgomery County Maryland Police Department to support changing the manner of death. One of my major concerns with direct relation to the investigation into the death of Keith or lack thereof is that Detective Beasley and the Coroner both used deception to validate their conclusion of suicide as the manner of death. The deception used not only unbalanced the scales of justice for Keith but it also worked against all efforts by my mom to get a responsible answers as to why her only son was dead. By cutting the tree down 1 month after Keith’s death with the explanation that it was being held for evidence in the event the case goes to court and now said tree cannot be located and the noose conveniently coming up missing after several requests from my mother to get it from Detective Beasley, in no way worked in favor of my mother and her search for evidence to question Detective Beasley’s conclusion of the manner of death. The Coroner stating on his official documentation he spoke to victims “sister” and was told that Keith was depressed was also deception on the part of an official directly involved in the death investigation to skew the classification to fit the suicide determination. In my heart I know that Keith did not put himself on the tree, however as I have previously stated I wasn’t there and you weren’t there; we have to base our conclusions off of factual evidence and information. We can also question how did Keith get to the location to hang himself if his car was parked at the club house which is a 8min walk from where his body was found or if Keith had 2 bottle caps from the alleged wine coolers he consumed in his front pocket of the pants he had on at the time of death which was found by the funeral home worker who cut Keith off the tree, where are the bottles that the caps go to and why were they not tested, finger printed or even collected at the scene. The above information is not assumptions, speculation or hear say, these are facts which can be located in the documentation that was given to me by Montgomery County Maryland Police Department in 2014. Below is the excerpt from the above mention interview and can also be found online. All I ask is that in 2016 a fair, upfront investigation is used with complete transparency given in your efforts. I appreciate your time and energy.

Del Walters: “Does it bother you that if Keith Warren did not take his own life, then there’s someone out there who committed murder?”

Doug Gansler, Montgomery County State’s Attorney: “Yes.”

IN THIS EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH THE I-TEAM, MONGTROMERY COUNTY STATE’S ATTORNEY DOUG GANSLER CONFIRMED A GRAND JURY HAS INDEED BEEN LOOKING AT THE KEITH WARREN CASE.

Gansler: “We looked at all the material, along with the sheriff, Ray Kight, and decided to reopen the case.”

Gansler: “We reopened the case, we used the grand jury, we examined all the leads, we talked to all possible witnesses, and came to a conclusion of inconclusiveness.”

Del Walters: “Is the final, bottom line in this case going to be that we just don’t know what happened to Keith Warren?”

Gansler: “There are very strong arguments, having looked at everything in this case, that Keith Warren died of suicide. But there are equally strong arguments to suggest that he did not die of suicide, that he was killed or died accidentally and then was put on this tree afterwards.”

HE ALSO SAYS THE LIKELY CONCLUSION WILL NOT PLEASE POLICE, AND WILL DO EVEN LESS TO SOLVE THE MYSTERY.

Del Walters: “Is it your opinion that the police botched this investigation?”

Gansler: “Under today’s guidelines and procedures, this would have been botched.”
